Journal entry for October 28th, 1747 to October 30, 1747
to Virginia, why cannot we in
Maryland have you, I told him because, no one as yet,
will give us leave to come to their Negroes, He answerd I
will, you shall instruct mine & wellcome, & offerd to call them together
directly, we told Him that we would rather take an
opertunity of speaking with them at their
work or when we found that they were
willing to receive
what should be sd to them, I told Him we could not promise
Him, that we could convert all His Negroes but would tell
them what our Dear Lord has done for them & how much he
lovd them, & if one or anothers- Heart was
inflamd with Him then it might be a blessing to the rest,
& would certainly make them to be faithfull & trustyservants, He s.d it was well we might
do as we thought best. Fryday 13 When I awak'd in the
I told Christian I was afraid the
Gentlemansmind would be alterd for I heard the
man that came Speaking to Him very
late & my Heart misgave me that it would be so. as soon as
the Gentleman got up I asked Him if He was in the same mind as
