SERVICE PROJECT

Thank you for taking your time to learn more about Anything But “Pointless”, T-Shirt Company’s Service Division. The main goals are simple: to make the senior citizens at Outlook Pointe happy and to keep Bucknell students as safe as possible over House Party weekend.

After much research, the Service Division decided on Outlook Pointe in Lewisburg as the ideal size and place for the company to aide. The company will be making visits during two scheduled Saturdays in April. The first of the two will provide the residents with a 1950’s themed party in an attempt to transport them to the time when they were teenagers. There will be a catered dinner and refreshments (from the generous help of Bucknell’s very own Dining Services), a 1950’s Jeopardy trivia game, a string quartet, music, and dancing. The following Saturday the company will make another visit for a crafts session, which will include bead working, decorating picture frames, and making soaps. On the same day the company will also present the residents with a collage constructed from photos that were taken during the party.

As a supplementary service project, the company has created an Alcohol Awareness Project that is designed to educate the Bucknell community about alcohol safety. A Points System Quiz will be distributed throughout the campus on company advertisements and during various class lectures and an educational comic strip will be made based on a true story of an anonymous company member illustrating an alcohol-related escapade. The winner of the Points Quiz during each class will receive a small prize for their awareness of the campus alcohol points system. After House Party weekend, surveys  will be distributed to the campus in order to measure the effectiveness of the Alcohol Awareness Project.

Local stores located in the Lewisburg area have graciously donated items to help in the success of the service projects. These items will be used as prizes for the winners of the 1950’s Jeopardy game at Outlook Pointe.  The donations by Weis Markets, Nails For You, Vennari's Pizza, House of PIzza, Mya's Coffee House, Brushstrokes, Stein's, Pineapple Haven, Celtic Exchange, Mercantile, Elizabeth's, Greek Isle, and Cathy's Hair Gallery have totaled nearly $250.  A big thanks goes out to all of our fantastic donators!
