The mission of Da Wild Thangs is to renovate the Lewisburg Area Recreation Authority (LARA) ice skating rink center to make this frequently used facility a better, more fun, and safer place for the children and families of the local community. This renovation will include the installation of carpeting for certain areas of the building, a colorful mural for a more aesthetically pleasing common area, adding desperately needed storage and cubby space, adding a gate to the fence surrounding the premises, and adding decorative Christmas lights along this outside fence. In addition, we hope to include the local community in this renovation by hosting and advertising a grand preview of the improved Lara Rink in the local papers, at which the children will have the opportunity to add their handprint to the mural, leaving their permanent mark on this beloved location. Undertaking the business project of selling “Where the Wild Things Are” themed t-shirts will supply the funding of this service project. These affordable and gender-neutral shirts are aimed towards students, parents, faculty, staff and alumni who are interested in having a memento connecting both Bucknell and this favorite childhood story. With the release of the “Where the Wild Things Are” movie, the timing of this sale, as well as the use of creative and original advertising, will ensure the success of this business project.
