Welcome to the CEEAS Research Group website! This website serves as a gateway to studies on Central Eurasian environmental issues. A particular focus of this site is on Aral Sea Studies and related water resource concerns. The geographic coverage focuses on the Aral Sea basin between the lake and the Tien Shan mountain range, but will stretch to cover the broader Central Eurasian region – the eight southern tier former Soviet countries and bordering regions, between the Black Sea and the Tien Shan mountain range (see our “Maps” page). The website’s purpose is to promote the study of these issues from a multidisciplinary perspective, so that for example, students and analysts of regional environmental politics will be better able to locate and inform their work with studies of environmental science. In order to promote this transdisciplinary understanding our website includes daily news digests, external site and data links, topical bibliographies, information tables, image collections, glossaries, and analytical briefs and fact sheets. Our faculty-led student research group is composed of undergraduates and recent graduates from Bucknell University. This website is a work in progress and will be regularly updated, pending funding.
